A reply from my host!

Today I got a reply from my host family.
It was a short note to welcome me and a very brief introduction. Now I know that I am going to be hosted by Frank and Grace, which are a couple!

I'll write to them tonight to tell them more about myself and my life. I hope we can know about eathother before we meet.

I just read that we should bring along a formal dress for the time we will meet the president. I have no idea what I am going to wear, peobably a dress or a formal skirt and blouse...lets see what I can find!

I have lived in a tropical land before and I know it is very humid and hot. I guess I will need quite different clothes from teh ones I wear here in Finland!

I am thinking of a small gift for my host...probably some chocolate from the Finnish Fazer company and something Iranian, to represent both of them.

Huh, I have a lot to do before this amazing trip...I am so excited!

Update on me

It's been a long time since I last wrote in here. I am not working on my second master's degree's thesis. I am not sure if writing in this blog regularly makes any sense as it was first created for my Taiwan trip. I have another blog which I update at times, I'd be happy to be followed by my SayTaiwan friends. I write my opinions and thoughts on many issues in that weblog. Click  Here  to see my other blog. Thanks in advance!

Kenting

I had almost 2 independent days in Taiwan! Isabel, Lilya, Kate and I went to Kenting on Saturday morning by bus and train. Daniel was not with us because he went to Taipei to have his own version of fun. We had a 4 hour tour around the city and visited some nice places, like the butterfly garden and the mountain from which you can see a beautiful sunset. We stayed at a youth center Frank had booked for us. The price was fair and it was very clean and comfortable. We spent a lot of our time at the beach and we swam the whole morning. We all burnt and are totally red and painful now :D We also met other SayTaiwan guys like Vaiva and Sam there and came back all together. The beach was very clean and I loved swimming in the ocean. The water was very clear and there was an incredible view in front of us. I enjoyed every moment of my trip and we laughed more than ever and were super happy! Last night after we got back from Kenting,Frank picked us up at the train station...
It is now a year since I traveled to Taiwan, and I can visibly see how I have changed. I have grown up and gained lots of experience...can't say if I feel good about it or not as I am not as cheerful and happy as before,  but I guess this is a sign of growth and wisdom. Last year at this time I was not a student and now I am, having passed a full academic year and should be doing my internship and writing my thesis this year. Maybe the only worry I have now is my internship. I am not yet sure where I will be doing my internship... I need to complete my research and publish at least one of my works by next August. This is a promise to myself!
