The first day

My first day in Taiwan, Chiayi was more than just great! My host family is very hospitable and they have overwhelmed me with kindness and affection.

Today we met the 3 other guests(Isabel from Denmark, Lilya from Kazakstan and Daniel from Singapore) and hosts in this city and went through the schedule, and visited the youth foundation, organic farmland and we had lunch at the foundation restaurant, and had coffee jelly which was really superb! There we met another host family and a guest, Kate from England.

The food portions in Taiwan are too much for me, thus I always leave more than half of my food, unfortunately!

Today we also went to an African drum group practice, in a kindergarten which was really big.

In the evening we had a party at one of the hosts here with the other guests and hosts and it was very nice. A lot of food and deserts, and we ate a lot! They were so kind and nice just like my hosts and we guests all felt so much welcomed!

Then we went to a primary school in Dilan altogether and there met some other hosts and guests, and watched some shows and dances, and we were even invited to dance! It was fun, and they took more than thousands of photos :D

To me, this county is a calm traditional one with nice people. Taiwanese are s hospitable and they do their best to make you feel good and welcomed.

We went to a temple and seeing a bunch of youngsters coming there to pray, I assumed that Taiwanese are traditional and pure. I don't know if I should call them religious because many of them may not believe in different Gods but follow the traditions symbolically!

My room in my host's beautiful house, is very comfortable and I even have my toilet and bathroom, in complete privacy. Frank and Grace are wonderful! I just don't know how I can make it up to them!

We are on tight schedule tomorrow, according to the agenda by my host. Will be visiting another city in Chiayi and will have plenty of other stuff to do there and back in this town.

So far, I am super happy and satisfied!

Update on me

It's been a long time since I last wrote in here. I am not working on my second master's degree's thesis. I am not sure if writing in this blog regularly makes any sense as it was first created for my Taiwan trip. I have another blog which I update at times, I'd be happy to be followed by my SayTaiwan friends. I write my opinions and thoughts on many issues in that weblog. Click  Here  to see my other blog. Thanks in advance!

Salt Farms

Everyday of my stay in Taiwan with my host family is more amazing than the day before! I have been having a lot of fun since I came and I am so excited about that. Today we visited Chiayi University and went to its library. We then went shopping in PLAZA and after that we headed to Solar Exploration Center which was really cool. After that we visited the salt mountain and went to the seashore, which was really good. We did a bunch of jumping photos with some school guys and went to the salt farm altogether! There the man in charge explained to us how they process that sea salt and we also went to the farm and worked with them. It was my first experience and was so much fun! I also tried an ice cream which was salty and had nuts in it. I liked it although the taste was so strange for me! At night we had a barbecue and we helped the locals wrap fish in aluminium and then salt and then on fire. It was really good and I ate a lot. We also barbecued pork, corn, oysters, ...

Visa : Done!

I applied for the visa to Taiwan and it took two working days. Today I got the visa stamped in my passport. They gave me 60 days starting from July the 4th, that feels more comfortable in case of any delays and stuff for the plane. The very first step accomplished! The next step is the ticket...Waiting for Alice's email!!
