Salt Farms













Everyday of my stay in Taiwan with my host family is more amazing than the day before! I have been having a lot of fun since I came and I am so excited about that.

Today we visited Chiayi University and went to its library. We then went shopping in PLAZA and after that we headed to Solar Exploration Center which was really cool.

After that we visited the salt mountain and went to the seashore, which was really good. We did a bunch of jumping photos with some school guys and went to the salt farm altogether! There the man in charge explained to us how they process that sea salt and we also went to the farm and worked with them. It was my first experience and was so much fun!

I also tried an ice cream which was salty and had nuts in it. I liked it although the taste was so strange for me!

At night we had a barbecue and we helped the locals wrap fish in aluminium and then salt and then on fire. It was really good and I ate a lot. We also barbecued pork, corn, oysters, vegetables and sweet potatoes. It was an amazing night and the locals were really generous and kind. They gave us some post cards of their salt farm and I am going to show them to my friends back home.

Today was awesome, I couldn't have more fun!

Host Guest Emails

I am now much more excited than before. My hosts seem to be wonderful! They are so warm and hospitable and I feel so welcomed even before going there. There are four of us in that town and my host, Frank said that the four hosts are going to schedule for us, the four guests and show us around and help us use our time in the best possible way! That's just cool, isn't it?  I should be thinking of formal clothes for the time we will meet the president of Taiwan. I got my formal shoes already!  I think I will pack my suitcase this weekend!

The most special trip ever!

Traveling is absoloutely one of my favourites and I have been to some European countries, south east Asia and Middle east. I am going to have the most special trip in my life so far…I still can’t believe it’s real! Let me tell you about that : I have been selected for SAY TAIWAN program which is meant to let us experience the authentic culture and lifestyle of the Taiwanese! The Taiwan government has now given me and 249 others from various countries the opportunity to stay in Taiwan for 2 weeks and to live with locals. I am so excited about this because I have always wanted to visit Taiwan and besides, I am going to meet people from all around the world in this program. This is a dream come true! I am sure my experience of this country will be a wonderful one and I will be writing all about my trip here in this blog!

Invitation from Taiwan

I have received the official invitation from SayTaiwan and I am going to Taiwan embassy in Helsinki to apply for visa tomorrow! Can't wait to have that stamp in my passport...Yeyyyy! Taiwan!!! One step closer...
