The last memorable days in Taiwan

I am writing this post while I am not in Taiwan anymore and am missing it so much...

The last days with the whole group of Saytaiwaners were amazing!

I think I should start with our Kinmen trip and go to the end. We had a flight to Kinmen island from Chiayi, and we met all the guests and hosts who had stayed in Chiayi in the airport. It was fun to meet the others because we all had wonderful experiences in common!

When we arrived to Kinmen, we were welcomed by Say Taiwan volunteers and then we went through the island and stopped now and then to visit places and eat or try some sweets and other stuff like that. We couldn't meet people from the other buses because we were too many and it was not possible for us to be at one place all together. We met some others from other buses at lunch and dinner time though.

We stayed at a hotel for the night and my friends and I went out to see what we can do. We met some other Say Taiwaners from other hotels in a park and talked and had fun! We then went back to our rooms and slept to be prepared for the next morning, the festival day!

The Peace festival was nice and after that we went to visit some other places, like where they made herbal medicine and a confectioneries where we tried Taiwanese sweets. We then went to Kinmen airport to fly to Taipei, the capital!

Taipei was fantastic, way better than what I could imagine. I wish we had more time in Taipei so we could see it all, our stay was so short, only 2 days and a half and we were tightly scheduled. The night we arrived, we 4, the guests in Chinkang city and our hosts were invited to a dinner at a Japanese restaurant just beside 101 tower. It was a lovely place with very tasty dishes. We had a great dinner there and then came back to our hotel. We passed by the famous 101 tower and took some pictures. We refreshed ourselves quickly and went to a classy karaoke bar together with some other friends: Lee, Antonio, Isa, Kate, Lilya, Daniel and Anna! It was not so much fun but I liked our company and the talks and conversations before and after.

The next morning, we put on our countries' national costumes and went to visit the prime minister and then to the presidential palace! It was just amazing to see people from all around the world in their national costumes!! We took thousands of photos with people who liked our costumes :D

We then went to the presidential palace. There was a gusy who lead our group and told us about the history of Taiwan and the previous presidents. It was informing and nice!

After that we were free, and to use the time, Frank, my host, took me and the other 4 friends to the national Palace Museum. It was a wonderful place with a lot of things to see. We had lunch at the restaurant on its top floor and then went to explore the Taiwan history in the museum. There were a lot of things to see there...I was amazed by the exquisite details and all those meanings in them. The ancient dishes and calligraphy were also amazing. I really liked the place and I am so happy we could go there in such a short time.

After that we went to the farewell party at Grand hotel. We were supposed to wear the same clothes as we wore in the morning party, so I did not wear the formal suit I had brought.

The farewell party was the best part of the programs after we left Chiayi. We got the chance to meet all the guests and hosts in the program, plus the organizers and volunteers! It was an amazing chance to see various costumes and cultures...
I had the opportunity to shake hands with the minister of cultural affairs, yayyy!

We were invited to the grand hotel of Taipei, which was an awesome place. The welcoming was with a very nice performance of a group with guns, and then the dinner and a lot of other performances on the 10th floor. They had plenty of programs while we were having dinner and they were all great. We then said goodbye to our hosts, which was a very difficult part. We couldn't stop the tears coming down because we all knew we will miss each other so much. We had wonderful time with our dear hosts and did not really want to say goodbye to them. It was hard but inevitable. We promised each other to meet again, soon!

I am going to miss my host and also the guests I was with during these two weeks. They are my super friends and I am sure I will meet them again. We told our hosts that they should come to our countries to visit us, and I do hope they will because I really love them. They have been just like my parents during these two weeks!

Say Taiwaners had a party at a club at the last night and we went there to see the others and have fun. It was good and I met a a Finnish gus who is not living in Finland but we spoke Finnish and it was so fun!

Yeah and now all those amazing days are over and I feel weird. It was hard to say goodbye... Almost all of us, the 250 guests fell in love with Taiwan and we all know we will be back there, some time soon.

I would like to thank all the hosts and guests and the organizers who made this happen. My stay in Taiwan couldn't be any better and enjoyable. I am going to tell everyone how great Taiwan is, and that I love Taiwan and its people!

Salt Farms

Everyday of my stay in Taiwan with my host family is more amazing than the day before! I have been having a lot of fun since I came and I am so excited about that. Today we visited Chiayi University and went to its library. We then went shopping in PLAZA and after that we headed to Solar Exploration Center which was really cool. After that we visited the salt mountain and went to the seashore, which was really good. We did a bunch of jumping photos with some school guys and went to the salt farm altogether! There the man in charge explained to us how they process that sea salt and we also went to the farm and worked with them. It was my first experience and was so much fun! I also tried an ice cream which was salty and had nuts in it. I liked it although the taste was so strange for me! At night we had a barbecue and we helped the locals wrap fish in aluminium and then salt and then on fire. It was really good and I ate a lot. We also barbecued pork, corn, oysters,

Taiwanese Art

Today we had even more fun! We went to a lot of pottery and farmland museums and enjoyed the beautiful artworks of Taiwan. My host, Frank, or Super Frank as we call him, knows everyone in this county. He is just great! I had noodles with sesemi sauce for lunch, in a local restaurant and it was nice! For dinner, we had Haka meal again, at a restaurant and it was better than the previous one. I ate beef, fish and vegetables! We had a special desert at Lilyia's host's beautiful big house, and I liked it! It contained soymilk jelly and ice, etc. Steven and his wife are really nice gorgeous couple with 2 cute kids! After dinner, we went to a foot message salon, and had our feet in herb steam for more than half an hour. It was so fun and relaxing! I drank cold green tea and relaxed! The guy then told us if we had any health problems, and he said I was completely HEALTHY! Feeling so confident now :D I need to sleep now because we should get up early tod

Night Market

There is one thing I forgot about yesterday, we had a visit to a place where an old guy made soybean sauce! It was my first time seeing the process of this sauce, and I found that it is very hard and time consuming! The beans had to be in big jars for half a year!!! The man was so hard working and kind... Today my host and the other guests in Chungain went to sculpture museum in the nearby city, which was an hour and a half away by car. It was amazing but unfortunately we were not allowed to take photos. There were excuisite wood carvings and I loved them, then we bought some souvenirs at the market nearby! Then we went for lunch at a restaurant and had Haka meal, which is a combination of a lot of foods in the middle of table, with rice of course! It was OK but not exactly my type, so I mostly took sprouts and a little chicken and vegetables. We tried candies there in markets and got a package as a gift from our hosts. After lunch we went to the National Museum of Arts in whic
